Veriphone Alternatives for Bulk Phone Validation (Prices Checked)

··5 min read

Veriphone is one of the cheaper phone validators, so the reason to look elsewhere is usually not price per check. It's what you need back. If you only need to throw out numbers that can't exist and get clean E.164 formatting, a numbering-plan check is enough, and several tools include it free or nearly free. If you need to know whether a US number is a mobile or a landline before texting, you need a live carrier lookup, and that is where prices diverge by 10x or more.

Every price below was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 6 November 2026.

Veriphone's terms, for reference

From Veriphone's pricing page:

Credit pack Price Per 1,000
10,000 $24 $2.40
25,000 $49 $1.96
50,000 $79 $1.58
100,000 $119 $1.19
250,000 $199 $0.80
500,000 $299 $0.60
1,000,000 $399 $0.40
5,000,000 $999 $0.20

Packs have no subscription and credits never expire. Monthly plans run from Starter at $12.99 for 10,000 credits to Enterprise at $249 for 1,000,000, with two months free on yearly billing.

1 credit = 1 standard validation. 10 credits = 1 Current Carrier Lookup. A carrier lookup that can't be resolved is charged as a standard validation. So 10,000 live lookups use 100,000 credits: $119 as a pack.

The alternatives at a glance

Tool Format validation Live carrier / line type Bulk CSV upload Free tier
Veriphone 1 credit 10 credits per lookup Yes ("Clean a List") Free sign-up; check the current allowance
Numverify Included in calls Carrier & line type in response API 100 requests a month
Abstract Phone Validation Included Carrier included Bulk CSV upload on paid plans 100 requests
Twilio Lookup Free $0.008 per Line Type request API only Pay as you go
SimpleVerifier Included on Pro 5,000 a month on Pro + Phone Yes, up to 100,000 rows 100 email checks

Numverify

Numverify sells monthly API plans: Free with 100 requests a month, Basic at $14.99 for 5,000, Professional at $59.99 for 50,000 and Enterprise at $129.99 for 250,000, with up to 15% off on yearly billing. Overage is charged per call. It returns validity, location, carrier and line type in one response. Good for a developer who wants a simple API; less handy if you have a CSV and no code. We compare it in depth in Numverify alternatives.

Abstract Phone Validation

Abstract's phone API has a free tier of 100 requests and a Starter at $19 a month for 5,000 requests billed monthly ($17 a month billed yearly, for 60,000 a year). Starter returns validation, location and carrier; higher tiers add messaging, registration and risk data. A bulk CSV upload is listed on paid plans. More in Abstract phone validation alternatives.

Twilio Lookup

Twilio Lookup does basic formatting and validation for free. Line Type Intelligence is $0.008 per request ($8 per 1,000), Caller Name $0.01 in the US, and Line Status is tiered from $0.007. It is API-only, and the rate is the same whether you look up 1,000 or 100,000. Best when lookups run inside an app you already built on Twilio. See Twilio Lookup alternatives.

SimpleVerifier

SimpleVerifier is a list cleaner first. Upload a CSV (up to 100,000 rows) and every phone number gets:

  • phone_status: valid, invalid or empty, against the numbering plan for its country
  • phone_e164: the number in E.164 format
  • phone_country and phone_type from the numbering plan

Format checks are included on Pro at $39 a month. Pro + Phone at $49.99 a month adds 5,000 live carrier lookups a month, returning the carrier and the carrier-reported line type (mobile, landline or VoIP), including US numbers. Failed lookups never count against the allowance. Phone checks are not part of the Unlimited email allowance.

If the same file has an email column, each address gets a live SMTP mailbox check in the same upload. Pro is Unlimited email verification*, so a lead list with both columns is cleaned once.

*Fair use: the first 100,000 checks a month at full speed, then slower, never cut off.

Try a single number with the phone number validator, or a whole column with the bulk phone number validator.

Which one to pick

You just need to drop bad numbers and format the rest. A numbering-plan check is enough. It catches typos, missing digits and wrong country codes. Use a free tool, Twilio's basic lookup, or a plan that already includes it. Don't pay carrier-lookup prices for this.

You're about to send SMS to a US or Canadian list. You need live line type. In North America, mobile and landline numbers share area codes, so a numbering-plan check returns "mobile or landline" for most numbers. Budget for a lookup per number. At 10,000 numbers: Veriphone $119 (as a pack), Twilio $80, or within the 5,000-a-month allowance on SimpleVerifier Pro + Phone over two months. See validating phone numbers for SMS.

You're a developer validating sign-ups in real time. An API with low latency and a free tier: Numverify, Abstract, Twilio or Veriphone all fit. Pick on the fields you need.

You have a lead list with emails and phones. Clean both in one upload instead of paying two vendors. See verify emails and phone numbers together.

What no phone validator can tell you

  • Whether someone answers. Numbers get disconnected and reassigned while staying in valid ranges. Line-status checks help but cost extra.
  • Consent. Whether you may call or text a number is a legal question, not a validation one. See TCPA: mobile vs landline.
  • The person. A valid mobile can belong to someone other than your lead.

Before any upload, fix the file: Excel strips leading zeros and turns long numbers into scientific notation. The phone number formatter and remove duplicate phone numbers tools handle the clean-up for free.

Compare plans on the pricing page, or upload your list on the verify page.

Common questions

What is the cheapest alternative to Veriphone?

For plain format validation, the numbering-plan check is free in Twilio Lookup's basic tier and included in SimpleVerifier Pro. For packs of standard validations, Veriphone itself is hard to beat: 1,000,000 credits were $399 on 6 November 2026.

Does Veriphone do live carrier lookups?

Yes. Its pricing page says a Current Carrier Lookup costs 10 credits, and a lookup that can't be resolved is charged as a standard validation (1 credit), read 6 November 2026.

What's the difference between phone validation and a carrier lookup?

Validation checks a number against its country's numbering plan and returns format, country and the line type its range was allocated for. A carrier lookup asks live routing data which carrier serves the number now and whether it is mobile, landline or VoIP, which matters after porting and in North America.

Can a bulk phone validator tell if a number is disconnected?

Not from a format check. A disconnected number still sits in a valid range. Some live services sell line-status checks separately; Twilio lists Line Status from $0.007 per request.

Check your list before you send

Real mailbox checks over SMTP, and nothing is sent to the address. Sign in with Google and your first 100 email checks are free, no card. Plans for bigger lists are on the pricing page.
