Verification runs in layers: a syntax check on the address, an MX lookup to confirm the domain has mail servers, then an SMTP conversation with that server asking whether the specific mailbox exists. Nothing is ever delivered — the connection names the address, reads the response and closes.

Pro never cuts you off. It is $39 a month with no credits and nothing to expire: the first 100,000 emails each month run at full speed, then lists of 2,000 rows or more run in a slower shared lane. Business ($99) and Agency ($249) run 300,000 and 750,000 a month at full speed. For a small list there is Starter at $9 a month for 2,500 emails a month; its allowance resets each billing month and unused emails don't roll over. Checks are paced so mail servers keep answering, so a very large list queues rather than being rejected (the job card shows an ETA), and confirmed results are cached for 14 days so re-verifying an overlapping list costs nothing.

Valid means the recipient's mail server confirmed the mailbox exists. Invalid means it confirmed it does not, or the syntax is broken, or the domain has no mail server, or the domain is a known disposable provider. Risky means the domain works but the mailbox could not be confirmed — usually a catch-all domain that accepts every address. Anything unconfirmed is reported as risky, never as valid.

Because the mailbox genuinely could not be confirmed. The most common reason is a catch-all domain, where the mail server accepts every address whether it exists or not, so no verifier can tell a real mailbox from an invented one. Greylisting and servers that refuse to answer also produce risky. Reporting those as valid would inflate our accuracy figure and hand you the bounces.

Yes. Every plan checks each number's format, country and number type and converts it to international E.164 format, with no limit. Pro + Phone, at $49.99 a month, adds 5,000 live carrier lookups a month, which name the carrier and tell mobile from landline or VoIP, including for US numbers. Neither check can confirm that a number is currently in service.

On Pro, the email finder, which turns a name and company domain into a verified address; website enrichment for emails, owner names and socials; and SPF, DKIM, DMARC and blocklist checks are included with no per-use charge. The API includes 10,000 calls a month, then $1.50 per 1,000. Lead search is included with a published fair-use limit of 10,000 records a month, because it is the one feature with a real per-record cost.
