live.cn MX records
live.cn publishes a single MX host, apc.olc.protection.outlook.com. With no backup host, a sender that can't reach it queues the message and retries until the server answers or the queue gives up.
98 other domains we checked on the same day also hand their mail to Microsoft Outlook.com (consumer) servers, with different records from live.cn: hotmail.at, hotmail.be, hotmail.ca, hotmail.ch, hotmail.cl, hotmail.co.il, hotmail.co.in, hotmail.co.jp and 90 more.
live.cn SPF record
The record on 5 November 2026 was v=spf1 include:spf-a.hotmail.com include:spf-b.hotmail.com include:spf-c.hotmail.com include:spf-d.hotmail.com include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all.
In plain terms, it delegates to spf-a.hotmail.com, spf-b.hotmail.com, spf-c.hotmail.com, spf-d.hotmail.com and spf.protection.outlook.com. The top level uses 5 DNS-querying terms; SPF allows 10 in total including nested includes (RFC 7208 §4.6.4).
It ends in a soft fail (~all): mail from unlisted servers should be accepted but treated as suspicious.
live.cn DMARC policy
The record is v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:[email protected];ruf=mailto:[email protected];fo=1:s:d.
p=none only asks for reports; failing mail is delivered as normal.
Aggregate reports go to rua.agari.com, so the domain's owner sees who sends mail as @live.cn.
Can you verify @live.cn addresses?
These are Microsoft's consumer mail servers, and Microsoft is currently refusing mailbox checks from our server's network (see the Outlook.com page). Expect @live.cn results to come back risky rather than valid or invalid; syntax, MX, disposable and role checks still run.
Cleaning a list with these addresses
DNS tells you where mail goes, not whether one person's mailbox still exists. For a list, run the whole file through a verifier before you send: invalid rows come out, risky rows (catch-all, unknown, refused) go in their own segment, and valid rows are safe to mail.
What Microsoft Outlook.com (consumer) documents for senders
- Microsoft requires domains sending more than 5,000 messages a day to Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live addresses to pass SPF, DKIM and DMARC (at least p=none, aligned with SPF or DKIM). Microsoft: requirements for high-volume senders
