What the results mean
- 3,940
- Safe to sendThe recipient's mail server confirmed the mailbox exists.
- 388
- Risky: catch-allThe domain accepts every address, so no verifier can confirm the mailbox over SMTP.
- 121
- Risky: role inboxA shared inbox like info@ or sales@. The domain receives mail; the mailbox itself was not checked.
- 58
- Risky: couldn't checkThe mail server refused, timed out or gave no clear answer, so nothing is known about the mailbox yet.
- 35
- Risky: microsoft not answeringOutlook, Hotmail, Live and MSN addresses. Microsoft isn't confirming mailboxes to outside checks right now; the domain receives mail, the mailbox is unconfirmed.
- 270
- InvalidThe mailbox or domain doesn't exist. Sending would bounce.
What to do next
- Send to the 3,940 safe-to-send addresses first. The mail server confirmed each mailbox.
- Remove the 270 invalid addresses from the list and the CRM. They would bounce and count against the sending domain.
- Send to the 388 catch-all addresses in small batches and stop if bounces rise.
- Treat the 121 role inboxes (info@, sales@) separately: they reach a shared inbox and draw more complaints in cold outreach.
- Hold the 58 addresses that couldn't be checked and check them again before sending.
- Check the list again before each new campaign: addresses go stale as people change jobs.
