Every valid Vanuatu number of each type starts with one of these digit groups. The example column shows Google’s example number for the range, written internationally.
| Type | Starts with, after +678 | Digits | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toll-free | 811, 818 | 5 | +678 81123 |
| Universal access (UAN) | 30, 33, 900 | 5 or 7 | +678 30123 |
| VoIP | 901–909, 910, 911 | 7 | +678 901 0123 |
What each type means for the caller
- Toll-free: 811 or 818
- Free to the caller, usually only from inside the country; the business that owns the number pays for the call. 5 digits after +678.
- Universal access (UAN): 30, 33 or 900
- One national number for a business with several sites, routed to the nearest or chosen office. 5 or 7 digits after +678.
- VoIP: 901–909, 910 or 911
- Numbers issued for internet telephony services rather than a fixed line or a mobile network. 7 digits after +678.
Writing and dialling a Vanuatu toll-free number
Vanuatu has no trunk prefix, so the number is the same at home and abroad; in E.164 put +678 in front: 81123 becomes +67881123. Many freephone numbers still only accept calls from inside Vanuatu, and a call from abroad that does connect is usually charged.
Toll-free and premium numbers in a phone list
In a lead or customer list, a toll-free number usually reaches a company line rather than a person, and a premium-rate number costs you money to call. The free toll-free number checker flags them in a pasted list or CSV, and the Vanuatu phone number format page covers mobiles and landlines.

The numbering plan only knows what a range was issued for.
In the US and Canada mobiles and landlines share the same prefixes, and anywhere a number can be ported or reassigned the range stops telling the whole story. A live carrier lookup asks the network data instead, which is what Pro + Phone ($49.99/mo) adds.
- 5,000 live carrier lookups a month: real line type, including US numbers
- Carrier name for every number looked up
- Upload a CSV up to 100,000 rows; emails in the same file get a mailbox check
