Bulk Outlook email checker: check a list of Outlook and Hotmail addresses

In short: Checks many outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com and msn.com addresses at once: typo domains like hotmial.com, duplicates and +tag repeats flagged, and says plainly what Microsoft lets a checker confirm. Limit: Microsoft refuses mailbox checks from our network today, so passing Outlook, Hotmail, Live and MSN rows are risky, never valid.

A bulk Outlook email checker tests many outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com and msn.com addresses at once. Paste the list here: bad syntax, typo domains like hotmial.com, duplicates and +tag repeats are flagged in your browser, and the first 10 go to a live check. Microsoft refuses mailbox checks from our network today, so passing Outlook rows come back risky, not valid.

Price: this tool is free. Checking a whole email list is from $9/mo, and the first 100 checks are free with Google, no card. See pricing

Runs in your browser. Only the domains are sent, to look up their mail servers; addresses stay on your device.

How do I check a list of Outlook or Hotmail addresses?

  1. Paste the addresses, one per line, or a CSV column of them. Addresses at other providers are checked as normal addresses and marked.
  2. Press Check the Outlook addresses.
  3. Read the flagged rows: bad syntax, a typo domain, a duplicate, or the same address with a +tag.
  4. Download the clean list. Flagged notes stay on it; only rows that fail a check come off.
  5. The first 10 go to a live check. Sign in with Google to run the rest with 100 free email checks.

Example

You enter
7 addresses: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], a live.com, an msn.com and a company address.
You get
[email protected] is flagged as a likely typo of hotmail.com and comes off; [email protected] is marked as row 1 plus a +tag and kept; the company address is marked as another provider. The live check returns the Outlook rows as risky, because Microsoft refuses our mailbox checks.
Limits
The browser pass covers the first 5,000 rows; only domains leave your device. 10 live checks a day without an account, then the free checks with a Google sign-in.

Can you check if Outlook or Hotmail addresses exist in bulk?

Partly. Everything that needs no mail server works for the whole list: syntax, typo domains such as hotmial.com or outlok.com, duplicates, and whether the domain receives mail. The mailbox question is different. Microsoft is refusing mailbox checks from our server's network right now, so once an outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com or msn.com address passes the other checks it comes back risky: the domain receives mail, and the mailbox wasn't confirmed.

We say that instead of guessing. A checker that marks every Hotmail address valid is reporting the domain, not the person. For one address with full notes, use the Outlook email checker.

Are hotmail.com and outlook.com the same thing?

They're both Microsoft consumer mail, and one Microsoft account can carry several addresses. Microsoft describes an alias as "another email address that works with the same Microsoft account" (Microsoft Support), so [email protected] and [email protected] can be one person. Nothing in the address shows that, so the tool doesn't merge them.

What it does flag is the same address with a +tag, such as [email protected] after [email protected]. That row is kept and marked, so you decide whether it's one person or two.

Why do old Hotmail lists bounce so much?

Because Microsoft closes inactive mailboxes. Its help page says an Outlook.com account is closed if nobody signs in for a year (Microsoft Support), so a Hotmail-heavy list from a few years ago carries many addresses that no longer exist, and a checker can't confirm them one by one while Microsoft refuses.

Let where the list came from decide. Recent signups from your own form, ideally confirmed by double opt-in, are a reasonable send. An old list is better sent in small batches, removing every hard bounce at once.

What can’t this tool tell you?

  • Microsoft refuses mailbox checks from our network today, so passing Outlook, Hotmail, Live and MSN rows are risky, never valid.
  • One Microsoft account can have several addresses; the tool can't see which rows share an account.
  • Company domains on Microsoft 365 are a different system; the Microsoft 365 email checker covers them.
  • The browser pass covers the first 5,000 rows; the free checks on your dashboard take the whole file.

Common questions

Is there a free bulk Hotmail checker?
Yes. This page checks a whole list of Hotmail and Outlook addresses for syntax, typo domains, duplicates and dead domains for free, runs 10 live checks with no account, and gives 100 free email checks with a Google sign-in.
Can you confirm a Hotmail mailbox exists without emailing it?
Not from our server today. Microsoft refuses mailbox checks from our network, so the answer for a well-formed Hotmail or Outlook address is risky: the domain receives mail, the mailbox wasn't confirmed. We show that instead of a guessed valid.
Will the Outlook users know I checked their address?
No. Nothing is delivered, so nothing appears in their inbox.
Does this check Microsoft 365 company addresses?
It checks them as normal addresses and marks them as another provider. For company domains on Microsoft 365, the Microsoft 365 email checker gives a mailbox answer, catch-all test first.

A tidy list can still be full of dead addresses.

Extracting, deduplicating and syntax checks all work on the text of an address. None of them can tell whether the mailbox exists. Only the server that hosts it can answer that, through an SMTP check, and that is what the paid product does.

  • Upload the cleaned file as it is: CSVs up to 100,000 rows
  • A real SMTP mailbox check on every row, with catch-all detection
